Fishermans Retreat Photos Bury by Cat & Suz at CT Images
On Saturday I met up with Vicky and Ally at The Fishermans Retreat in Bury. Half way between Oxford and Scotland, they chose this beautiful venue for their wedding later in the year. Ally proposed to Vicky in New York and this is some of their story:
Vicky and I met after a night out. I had just moved to Oxford at the start of September 2011, we met a few days later around the 12th in which four years on is our wedding day. When I first moved to Oxford I didn’t know anyone and the other manager I was working with, Siobhan (now a good friend), took me out to see the town and meet her friends. It was later on in the night when Vicky and I got chatting, Vicky tried to explain what she did for a living (food technologist for bakery products) and after a glazed look I came to the conclusion that Vicky makes massive ginger bread men…. the rest is history as they say!
We planned a holiday to New York in December 2013, on one of the days we decided to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn, the views of Manhattan were fantastic, we thought that the view of all the lights at night would also be amazing so decided to have dinner whilst we waited for nightfall. After dinner we walked to the water front at the side of Brooklyn Bridge, Vicky was taking photos in front of me so I got down on one knee and waited for Vicky to turn around. When she did I froze… Vicky asked what I was doing and because I was so nervous I came out with “I was hoping to make this more permanent” instead of “will you marry me” which is an ongoing joke that I haven’t actually asked Vicky to marry me!
