The recent heat wave was a perfect chance to take some sunset photos of Joe and Jen who hold their wedding reception at Rivington Hall Barn very soon. I wish we had this sunshine all the time! This is their perfect engagement story:

“After being together for nearly ten years  Joe and I finally moved into our first house together on Valentine’s Day, 2014. We had never lived together before so this was a very exciting day. After a long week of unpacking boxes and cleaning we became settled quite quickly and my birthday was the following week. Joe asked how I wanted to spend the evening after work and I suggested having my Mum and siblings over for a chippy tea takeaway (my favourite). Once my family had left, Joe said that he had to prepare my birthday present and that I was to go upstairs out of the way. I went upstairs and got changed into my comfy clothes and bed socks, and heard lots of noise downstairs. I assumed that Joe had possibly bought me a bookcase as he was making so much noise and it was something I really wanted for the new house. Whilst upstairs, I heard a car pull up on our drive which sounded a lot like Joe’s parent’s very old and distinctive Volkswagen. Feeling full and lazy, I didn’t jump up to check as I would have usually done and when the doorbell didn’t ring, assumed it wasn’t them. Meanwhile, Joe was outside on our lovely decking setting up the proposal. Hearing his Mum and Dad’s car he ran around the front to tell them to go away as he was about to propose to me! Joe’s Dad, promptly returned to the car with his Mum, who was apparently squealing with delight. Joe then came upstairs to tell me my present was ready and led me down the stairs. I was then told to close my eyes and was led through the living room. I could feel the cold February air and asked (in disgust I might add, as I hate being cold), “ why are we going outside, I’m only in my bed socks?!!? Once outside I was surprised with the sight of hundreds of tea lights and several bunches of flowers, roses scattered everywhere and a bottle of champagne. I didn’t even expect a proposal as we had just moved in. Joe even tricked me and said this was just a little bit of fuss for my birthday. He then gave me a kiss and said “but I do have a little question for you”… and then got down on one knee and asked me. I obviously said yes! But then became very self-conscious of smelling of fish and chips, which we laughed at. That was it really. So special if a bit cheesy!”
