Valerie and Maurice met at the luncheon club on Thicketford Centre in Bolton, little knowing they would end up marring in the beautiful church next door a couple of years later. 77 year old Maurice is extremely artistic and carves wood, one of the first things he made for Val was a love spoon. Val was taken with his kindness and warmth and he surprised her in January 2014 when they went window shopping together and ended up with a ring announcing that he hoped she knew what that meant now !!! Val was smitten and not long after she went to Cyprus for her annual holiday and he decided to join her where he officially proposed to her. They have not been separated since then. They are both widows Val sadly lost her husband many years ago and she has been on her own for close to 30 years. Maurice’s wife died a few years ago. They both have a wicked sense of humour and are very well matched. Maurice drives a little red sports car and they whizz around everywhere in it . Val’s aim was to keep as much from Maurice about the wedding as possible! He had visions of her in an ‘outfit’ and it was hard keeping a colour theme from him when all he wanted was a blue tie to match his suit! Maurice & Val, thank you so much for the privilege of being at your wedding and seeing your passion & energy for life. The best is yet to come! Here’s some pictures from their very special day:
This is the stunning church the couple attend, St Augustines in Bolton
The Father did an heartfelt preach on Jesus’ miracle providing wine for the wedding celebration and how the last bottles of wine were just as good as the first.
Maurice showed Val his commitment by getting confirmed earlier this year in the church they would marry in.
Maurice had no idea of the reception venue, the bridesmaid and page boy or the fact that Val would look as stunning as she did in a beautiful wedding gown that had taken months to find. Her final choice was Jasmine from Sincerity Bridal at the wonderful Glamour on Bank Street.
Here’s Suzanne & Naomi getting some film footage of the wonderful day.
Neither of them knew about the special wedding night that Jackie and Liz had booked for them at the Last Drop Hotel in Bolton. They wanted to surprise them with the perfect end to the perfect day.
